Intro to Consciously Creating the Life You Want

Something I am very fond of, and finding my way back to, is consciously creating the life I want using The Law of Attraction (LOA from here on.) LOA basically says, like attracts like. In other words, the thoughts and feelings you have will create the life you will have. Think positive, get positive. Think negative, get negative.

How so? Well, if I am in the constant mind-set of thinking “I want, I need, or I wish I had” I am intentionally focusing on the lack there of, and therefore, I will not be attracting those things.

What are the tips and tricks I use to make LOA work for me? FIrst, I figure out what it is I want. I have to be clear on this, if I am wishy-washy, it will be harder to create, I become frustrated and give up very quickly. Second, I make a vision board or gratitude list. If it is a board, I look at it daily. If it is a list, I read it and make it a mantra. I imagine that I can feel what it would be like to already have those things. Next I use visualization. I sit quietly and picture myself surrounded by the things I want. I use the term “things” loosely. Things can be people, job, house, love, adventures, state of being, financial abundance, really anything.

Also, don’t worry about “how” you are going to get the things you want. Let the Universe take care of the “how,” you focus on the “what.”

Last week I talked about gratitude and shifting energy. This is where gratitude will be handy, feel grateful as if you already have these things in your life. As you practice these techniques, you will notice your energy naturally shifting into a more positive space or it will become more apparent to you that the shift needs to occur.

Often times, when we start creating the lives we want, we notice that the people and activities that are negative and unhealthy will suddenly not be such an important part of our lives. This can be a scary idea when you are starting to create. But take heart, when you shed the negative, you leave more room for positive and wonderful things in your life.

Gratitude and Shifting Energy

Often times, I speak of things in terms of energy. Whether it’s my initial intuition of other people when I first meet them, “They have great energy,” “Their energy feels off to me, anxious, not really in line with mine….” I could go on. Or I speak about energy in terms of what we put out and therefore, what we attract back to us.

So, when I am speaking with others about negative energy or being in a negative space energetically and they ask how to shift that energy, my very first response is GRATITUDE. Keep in mind, when I find myself in a negative energy rut, I tell myself the same thing, be grateful. Gratitude will start to shift your energy in all ways, always.

“But everything is wrong, my life has always been hard, been a struggle, people are mean, no one appreciates me….” Again, I could go on with many more responses I have been told and told myself.

The fact is, sometimes you have to start small, be grateful that you can breathe or that the sun is out.  Every day make a list of 3 things you are grateful for, read it out loud, make it a mantra, fake a smile with it if you have to. Eventually, the list will get easier to make, more significant and you will start seeing the beauty in your life instead of focusing on the muck. Eventually that fake smile will become a genuine smile. Eventually you will see the things around you change. Sometimes it means negative people stop wanting to be around you, however you start attracting more positive people and events in your life. People often times will approach you differently and react to you in a better more positive way.

The trick is, don’t give up too soon. If you have been in a negative space for a long time, give yourself time to see the fruit bloom, so to speak. This isn’t something that will change overnight, when you have lived with a certain mindset about life and the world, it takes time to really change that belief and see those results. But when you do, even if it is a small glimmer of change, make sure you acknowledge it, be grateful for the small changes, because all of the small changes will add up to a big change overall.
